Biography

Lukas Mühlethaler studied Jewish Thought (maḥševet israel) at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and completed his doctorate in Arabic Studies and Islamic Studies at Yale University with a dissertation on the Jewish philosopher Ibn Kammūna. After a research stay at the 'Research Unit Intellectual History Islamicate World' at the Institute for Islamic Studies of Freie Universität Berlin, he served as a junior professor at the Institute for Judaics from 2013 to 2019. Since 2019, he has been a professor of Jewish Philosophy and Aesthetics at the same institute.
