Luke graduated in 2011 from the University of the West Indies in Barbados with a Bachelor of Science degree with Honours in Chemistry. He completed his MPhil in 2013 under the supervision of Professor Avril Williams, investigating mechanically interlocked molecules based on the dibenzylammonium/24-crown-8 recognition motif. Luke subsequently joined Imperial College London as a Master of Research student in Green Chemistry, conducting research on new porous materials under Dr. Rob Davies and Professor Paul Lickiss, graduating in 2015 with distinction. The award of the Imperial College President’s PhD scholarship allowed him to continue research on metal-organic hydrogen-bonded frameworks built from organosilicon carboxylic acids. He completed his PhD in 2019. Luke began his position as a Teaching Fellow in the Department of Chemistry in June 2019 and is a co-founder of the Chemical Kitchen project. His teaching responsibilities include a large focus on undergraduate practical chemistry education, coordinating the programme for training transferable professional skills for undergraduate students, and delivering teaching on aspects of inorganic chemistry characterization methods. Luke is also responsible for coordinating summer undergraduate research opportunities and the departmental study abroad exchange programme.
