Biography

Luna Yue Huang earned her B.S. in Materials Science Engineering from Tsinghua University, Beijing in 2000 and her Ph.D. in Materials Science Engineering with a focus on Nanotechnology from the University of Washington, Seattle in 2006. Since 2014, she has been teaching engineering courses at the college level as an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Department of Materials Science & Engineering at the University of Washington. Huang's role includes serving as the department's industrial relationship coordinator and as the director of the internship program. Her research emphasizes the application of data science in materials informatics and the computational study of materials' electronic structures. She teaches various courses related to Data Science and Materials Engineering, including MSE 311 Integrated Undergraduate Laboratory and MSE 477 Data Science in Materials Informatics. Professor Huang collaborates with faculty from both the materials science and chemistry departments to develop data science course series. She is dedicated to fostering undergraduate research and provides students with opportunities to work closely with engineers on real-world engineering problems.
