Biography

Luo obtained a PhD in Accounting from Queen’s University and holds an MBA from Wake Forest University in the USA, as well as a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Sichuan University in China. His research centers on sustainability reporting, financial reporting quality, voluntary disclosure, the impact of regulation on corporate disclosure, and corporate governance. His work has been featured in reputable peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Business Finance & Accounting, European Accounting Review, and Accounting Perspectives, among others. He has secured grants from both provincial (FQRSC) and national (SSHRC) funding agencies to support his research efforts. As an Associate Professor at the John Molson School of Business, Luo has taught various courses, including Accounting Theory, Financial Reporting, and Emerging Topics in Accounting Research at both undergraduate and doctoral levels. His expertise encompasses Sustainability/ESG/CSR reporting, and his notable contributions have garnered recognition among top authors in downloads on SSRN. His dedication to advancing the field of accountancy is evident through his extensive publication record and his active role in academic governance.
