Biography

Lyall Gorenstein is a regionally recognized thoracic surgeon at New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center, serving as the Director of Minimally Invasive Thoracic Surgery and Surgical Director of the Columbia University Hyperhidrosis Center. He specializes in the clinical management of lung cancer, esophageal cancer, benign esophageal disorders, hyperhidrosis, and pectus excavatum. Dr. Gorenstein received his MD from the University of Toronto Medical School in 1983 and completed a general surgery residency at the same institution. His extensive training includes a fellowship at the Ontario Cancer Institute focusing on multi-drug resistance and a Thoracic Surgery fellowship at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. Dr. Gorenstein is actively involved in various medical societies and has published numerous abstracts, presentations, and journal articles in reputable medical journals. He has served on several hospital committees and has been recognized as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor in Thoracic Surgery for the past 17 years, in addition to being named Hudson Valley Top Doctor in thoracic surgery.
