Dr. Lydia Aoun Barakat

Biography

Lydia Aoun-Barakat, MD, is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Infectious Diseases section at Yale School of Medicine. As the Medical Director of the Yale Center for Infectious Diseases, she oversees ambulatory services for patients living with HIV and other infectious diseases. Dr. Aoun-Barakat is committed to enhancing care for individuals affected by HIV, especially as they age, and has contributed to several HRSA CDC grants aimed at improving quality care standards for this population. She is recognized nationally for her leadership in quality improvement initiatives in HIV care and has received the 'Senior Leadership Award' for her efforts. Additionally, she has a strong focus on teaching and mentorship, having received 'Teacher of the Year' awards multiple times over the past decade. Her research includes important contributions to the understanding of HIV infections and their management, reflecting her dedication to advancing knowledge in the field.
