Lynda Clark's novel Kidding (2019, Fairlight Books) was optioned for development by Film4, with Top Boy director William Stefan Smith attached. Her short story collection Dreaming Quantum, published by Fairlight Books in 2021, includes the highly acclaimed 'Ghillie's Mum,' which won the 2018 Commonwealth Short Story Prize and was shortlisted for the 2019 BBC Short Story Award. Prior to joining academia, Lynda worked as a bookseller and in the video game industry as a writer and producer. She grew up in a council estate and remains connected with her extended family. Lynda holds a PhD in Creative Critical Writing (Interactive Narrative) from Nottingham Trent University, with research interests focusing on how new technologies influence prose and interactive narratives in video games. She has a keen interest in the portrayal of disordered voices within creative writing. Lynda's past research includes exploring serialization in Victorian fiction and the use of interactive narratives for reflective purposes. She was a 2019 Innovation Fellow at the British Library, focusing on the effectiveness of archiving tools for born-digital works and received the British Library Labs award for her creative piece, Memory Archivist. Currently, Lynda serves as Programme Director for the MSc Narrative Futures at the University of Edinburgh.
