Biography

I am a qualified clinical psychologist since 2011 and continue to work within the NHS as a Lecturer in Clinical Psychology at the University of Glasgow. My combination of clinical and academic work has enabled me to maintain productive research collaborations with NHS services and clinicians. My primary clinical research interests include drug and alcohol addictions, with a particular focus on women and, more specifically, mothers. I also have a strong interest in grief and loss and the lived experiences of individuals who engage with NHS services and are often labeled as hard to reach. My focus is on qualitative research methodology and specifically on Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA), which allows me to amplify the voices and experiences of marginalized and under-researched groups, leading to improved service development and patient outcomes.
