Biography

Lyndon Barrois Jr. is an artist and writer, currently serving as the MFA Program Director and Assistant Professor at the School of Art, Carnegie Mellon University. He is known for his collaborative art practices and has worked with artists such as Addoley Dzegede on several exhibitions and has co-authored essays for a book published by Jan van Eyck Academie in 2019. His artistic exploration employs cinematic techniques to examine themes of anachronism, simultaneity, and reanimation. One of his current projects critically engages with the legacies of colonial extraction through the lens of a heist film set in a museum context. Barrois Jr. is particularly interested in the intersections of color, control, taste, and waste, seeking to layer information and challenge traditional narratives around film representation. He holds an MFA from Washington University in St. Louis (2013) and a BFA in painting from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore (2006). His artistic journey includes completed residencies at prestigious institutions such as LATITUDE Chicago, Loghaven, and the Van Eyck Academie in Maastricht, as well as Fogo Island Arts in Newfoundland and the Irish Museum of Modern Art in Dublin. He is currently a Starr Fellow at the Royal Academy Schools in London.
