Biography

Lynn is a Senior Lecturer in Accounting & Finance and serves as the Chief Adviser for Studies at the Adam Smith Business School. She graduated with a BSc in Zoology from the University of Glasgow in 1984 and is a qualified Chartered Public Finance Accountant through the National Audit Office, as well as a Chartered Accountant with EY. Before entering academia, Lynn accumulated 30 years of experience in both public and private sectors, holding senior positions in local government, management consultancy, and corporate finance with a focus on public audit. She is the chair of CIPFA Scotland and the Local Authority Scotland Accounts Advisory Committee. Lynn is a member of the School's Accounting research cluster, with expertise in audit, public sector accounting, and governance. She has also contributed to various publications and grants related to her research interests. Notably, she is a founding board member of Revenue Scotland and chaired the audit risk committee. Lynn is also a trustee of Cash Kids (Radio Clyde) and has taken on significant roles, including becoming a board member and chair of the audit & risk committee for the Scottish Charity Regulator in April 2022. Professionally, she is an academic member of ICAS’s Audit & Assurance panel and serves as treasurer/secretary for the BAFA Scottish Area Group.
