Dr. Lynn Gambin

Biography

Lynn Gambin is an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada. He joined the department in August 2016 and has since focused his research on various aspects of the labour market, vocational education, and training. Gambin has spent over a decade studying employer behavior and the impact of government policies in the UK and Europe. He took on the role of Director for the Master of Employment Research (MER) program in July 2020, an interdisciplinary program that spans multiple faculties including Business Administration and Humanities and Social Sciences. His research interests include labour economics, health economics, public policy, and programme evaluation. In addition, Gambin has collaborated extensively with various research partners across the UK and Europe, including government departments and development bodies. He served as a Specialist Adviser to the UK House of Commons Education Select Committee and has acted as an expert witness in several inquiries concerning apprenticeships. His work emphasizes the importance of understanding the dynamics of vocational training and its effects on the economy.
