Biography

Lynn Hildemann is the Wayne Loel Professor of Sustainability and the Senior Associate Dean of Education within the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Stanford University. Her current research focuses on the sources and dispersion of airborne particulate matter indoors and the assessment of human exposure to air pollutants. Hildemann holds a Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Ph.D. in environmental engineering science from the California Institute of Technology. She has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications and has more than 1,000 citations. Hildemann's contributions to the field have been recognized with several prestigious awards, including the Young Investigator Awards from the National Science Foundation and the Office of Naval Research, and the Kenneth T. Whitby Award from the American Association for Aerosol Research. Additionally, she received Stanford's Gores Award for Teaching Excellence in 2013. Hildemann has served on numerous advisory committees, including those for the Bay Area Air Quality Management District and the California Air Resources Board. Currently, she is the Associate Editor for Environmental Science & Technology and has participated in various academic and administrative responsibilities at Stanford.
