Lynn Marie Westphal, M.D., graduated summa cum laude from Lawrence University and earned her M.D. degree from Stanford University. She completed her residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at UCLA and Stanford University, followed by a fellowship in molecular biology at Stanford University and a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at UCSF. Dr. Westphal joined the full-time faculty at Stanford University in 1998 and retired in 2019, holding the title of Professor Emeritus in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, specializing in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. She directed the Fertility Preservation Program and the Reproductive Endocrinology Fellowship. As a leader in fertility preservation for cancer survivors, Dr. Westphal initiated nationwide oocyte cryopreservation programs and held several national leadership roles, including President of the Fertility Preservation Special Interest Group of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine. Between 2005 and 2012, she served as the Director of Women’s Health at Stanford. In 2012, she co-founded the Stanford Center for Health Research on Women and Sex Differences in Medicine, serving as co-director for several years. Dr. Westphal has been recognized for her contributions to reproductive health and has a strong academic background with numerous honors and awards.
