Biography

Lynsey Downing is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine at the University of Toronto. She holds a graduate degree from Queen’s University, Belfast, completed in 2008. Dr. Downing has undergone clinical anesthesia training in the United Kingdom and has gained valuable experience in Emergency Medicine and Critical Care at Prince Wales Hospital in Sydney, Australia. She finalized her fellowship in pediatric anesthesia at Hospital Sick Children in Toronto in 2021. Dr. Downing has taken on several leadership roles, particularly in the trauma program, where she acted as the anesthesia trauma program liaison and coordinated response efforts for mass casualty events at the hospital level. Her research interests include the use of clinical simulation in medical education and its translation into clinical practice. Educationally, she leads the Anesthesia Fellowship Simulation Education Program at SickKids and is the lead for the Trauma Team Simulation Program.
