Biography

Dr. Lynsey Duffell completed her PhD at King's College London, where she investigated the health benefits of Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) cycling in individuals with complete spinal cord injury (SCI). She then moved to Imperial College London to conduct a five-year postdoctoral fellowship focusing on gait pathophysiology in knee osteoarthritis. In 2013, she returned to the field of SCI rehabilitation research and completed a short post-doc at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, where she focused on locomotor training and acute intermittent hypoxia as therapeutic interventions for SCI. Dr. Duffell currently serves as an Associate Professor at University College London’s Department of Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering. Her lab is part of the Aspire Centre for Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology (CREATe) at the London Spinal Cord Injury Research Centre, based at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore. She is engaged in advancing rehabilitation strategies for SCI and improving clinical outcomes through innovative research.
