Biography

Lysa Boissé Lomax is a Professor at Queen's University, holding a joint appointment in the Division of Neurology and the Division of Respirology within the School of Medicine. She completed her MD and MSc degrees at the University of Calgary and pursued her Neurology residency at Queen’s University. Professor Boissé Lomax received prestigious fellowships, including the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Detweiler Travelling Fellowship and the Cecil Patience Reid Fellowship, to enhance her training in Epilepsy and Genetics at the University of Melbourne in Australia. After returning to Queen's University, she furthered her expertise in Sleep Medicine and became a certified EEG (CSCN diplomate) professional specializing in polysomnography. Her contributions include managing multidisciplinary sleep epilepsy clinics and overseeing transition clinics that assist families in navigating the challenges of transitioning from pediatric to adult care. As the Medical Director of the EEG Laboratory and Director of the KHSC District Epilepsy Centre, she has actively participated in setting national guidelines for epilepsy genetic testing and pediatric to adult transition care. Her research interests focus on epilepsy genetics, various epilepsy syndromes such as North Sea Myoclonus Epilepsy, cardiac arrhythmia related to epilepsy, and the integration of virtual clinical teaching tools for residents. Lysa is also an active member of the ECHO Epilepsy Executive team and serves as Chair of the ECHO Epilepsy Genetics Section while holding a position as an executive member of the District 7 Ontario Medical Association Council.
