Biography

Lystra Batchoo is a Lecturer in Law at Penn Carey Law School. Currently, she serves as Vice President and Associate General Counsel at Vox Media, a digital media publishing company known for its iconic editorial brands, including New York Magazine, Eater, Vulture, and Verge. As part of the General Counsel’s leadership team, Ms. Batchoo's primary responsibilities involve supporting revenue-generating functions of the business, which encompass advertising sales, marketing, experiential event activations, product launches, e-commerce, and strategic partnerships. In addition to her transactional work, she counsels on internal policies and guidelines, conducts compliance training for business teams, and advises on revenue growth opportunities to roll out new initiatives. Her previous experience includes serving in-house as a staff attorney for BuzzFeed and evaluating consumer competitor challenges for national advertising campaigns with the National Advertising Division. Ms. Batchoo began her legal career as a commercial litigator in private practice at Kelley Drye & Warren in New York City. Actively engaged in relevant industry groups, she is currently serving as Co-Chair of the Media Law Resource Center's Advertising & Commercial Speech Committee and Co-Chair of the Sponsorship Committee for the 2025 Annual Meeting of the National Association of Women Lawyers.
