Biography

Maarten de Wilde is a full Professor of International European Tax Law at Erasmus School of Law, Erasmus University Rotterdam. His specialization lies in international tax law and European law with a focus on direct taxation. His research examines the taxation of business income within the context of a globalizing and digitalizing market environment. Maarten heads the faculty’s tax law department and is a board member of the Erasmus University Rotterdam Education Institute and Research Institute, where he engages in international and European taxation research. He also serves as the staff Director at PwC and is associated with the Africa-Europe Partnership Institute for Capacity Building and Human Resource Development (AEPICAB). Maarten graduated cum laude in Dutch Law with a focus on Tax Law from the University of Utrecht in 2005 and obtained his PhD cum laude in 2015 with the thesis ‘Sharing the Pie: Taxing Multinationals in a Global Market’. He received the Johannes Cornelis Ruigrok Prize in 2016 for his work. Outside of academia, Maarten is married to Ciska Wisman and has three daughters.
