Biography

Dr. Maayan Levy received her Ph.D. in Immunology from the Weizmann Institute of Science. After completing her PhD, she became an Assistant Professor in the Microbiology Department at the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania. Currently, Dr. Levy is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology at Stanford Medicine and serves as an Innovation Investigator in Residence at the Arc Institute. Her scientific mission centers on understanding, developing, and applying the concept of metabotherapy, which is the use of metabolites as vehicles and targets to prevent and treat diseases. Dr. Levy's research focuses on inflammatory diseases, neurological diseases, and cancer, specifically exploring the metabolite landscape of the gastrointestinal tract to devise new therapeutic interventions. Her work has earned her several recognitions, including the NIH Director’s New Innovator Award, Pew Biomedical Scholar Award, Searle Scholar Award, and the Burroughs Wellcome Fund Investigator Pathogenesis Infectious Disease Award.
