Machteld Kamminga obtained her PhD in materials chemistry from the University of Groningen in 2018, graduating cum laude under the supervision of Prof. Thom Palstra. Following her PhD, she moved to the University of Oxford supported by a Rubicon research grant from the Dutch Research Council (NWO), where she studied intercalation mechanisms in layered chalcogenides with Prof. Simon Clarke. In 2020, she received a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions Individual Fellowship, which allowed her to relocate to the University of Copenhagen to work with Prof. Kim Lefmann on high-temperature superconductors using neutron scattering techniques. In February 2023, she joined Utrecht University as an assistant professor, being part of the QuMat research program, which focuses on materials for the quantum age.
