Biography

Maddalena Fiordelli is a Senior Researcher and Lecturer at the Institute of Public Health, Università della Svizzera italiana. Her research focuses on health communication, community-based participatory research, multi-stakeholder communication, social isolation, informal caregiving, and the role of digital health in improving health service outcomes. She is leading the 'Free Fear' project, which aims to reframe dementia from the perspective of caregivers and promote empathetic understanding of their experiences. Fiordelli supervises doctoral students in public health and mentors future public health professionals, teaching at both bachelor’s and master’s levels. Her experience includes four years as a Senior Researcher at Swiss Paraplegic Research from 2018 to 2021, followed by a position at the University of Lucerne from 2021 to 2023. She completed her PhD with an SNF scholarship and spent a year as a visiting researcher at the University of Amsterdam from 2007 to 2008. Fiordelli served as the treasurer for the International Association for Communication in Health from 2019 to 2024.
