Dr. Madeline Naegle

Biography

Madeline Naegle is a Professor Emerita at the NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing. She is nationally and internationally recognized for her contributions to program development, publications, and policy implementation in addiction and psychiatric nursing, particularly focusing on older adults. Her leadership has included significant efforts towards the integration of behavioral health into professional education and clinical practice. Naegle played a pivotal role in the establishment of the NYU College of Nursing as a World Health Organization Collaborating Center in Geriatric Nursing Education. She has served as the Associate Director of the RMCON Center for Drug Use and HIV Research. Her educational background includes a PhD in Nursing, as well as MA and BSN degrees from New York University. Naegle is a member of various professional organizations, including the American Academy of Nursing and the American Nurses' Association. She has received numerous accolades, such as the Excellence in Mentorship Award from the Association of Medical Educators Researchers in Substance Abuse and the J.W. Fulbright Senior Fellow award. Her research interests include alcohol and substance use among older adults, attitudes towards substance use disorders, and the safety impacts of commonly used substances in this population. She has published extensively in her field and continues to influence nursing education and practices.
