Biography

Madhavi Krishnan is a Professor of Physical Chemistry at the University of Oxford. She completed her undergraduate studies at Anna University in Madras, India, and earned her PhD from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. Professor Krishnan has been supported by prestigious Alexander von Humboldt and Marie Curie Fellowships, leading to postdoctoral work in single molecule biophysics and nano-optics at Technical University Dresden and ETH Zurich. In 2012, she spent a short period as a Visiting Scholar at Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences before being appointed Assistant Professor in Physical Chemistry at the University of Zurich. She later received a Professorship from the Swiss National Science Foundation. Her accolades include the 2016 Nernst-Haber-Bodenstein prize from the German Bunsen Society and the 2020 Corday Morgan Prize from the Royal Society of Chemistry. Currently, her research explores molecular electrostatics in the fluid phase through both experimental and theoretical lenses.
