Professor Dr. Mads Hald Andersen

Biography

Mads Hald Andersen is a Clinical Professor of Immunology at the University of Copenhagen. His research primarily focuses on the characterization of natural immune responses to malignant cells, with a specific emphasis on immune regulation. Throughout his career, Andersen has identified several T-cell antigens including survivin and RhoC, which serve as important targets in cancer immunotherapy. He has played a crucial role in clinical trials across Europe and the USA, particularly pertaining to cancer antigens. Andersen completed a Doctor of Medical Science degree in 2016, with research pertaining to anti-regulatory T cells. He has a history of significant contributions to immunology, particularly concerning the role of regulatory T cells (Tregs) in modulating immune responses to tumors and preventing autoimmunity. Andersen has authored or co-authored 169 publications in international peer-reviewed journals, highlighting his influential work in the field. He is also actively involved in teaching and supervising PhD candidates at the University of Copenhagen and the Technical University of Denmark, furthering the academic growth of future immunologists.
