Maéva El Bouchikhi is a doctoral student at the Institute of Ethics, History, and Humanities (iEH2) at the University of Geneva. She is engaged in the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) doctoral project relating to internet of things (IoT) and occupational health, which examines practical, ethical, and legal issues. Maéva holds a law degree from the University of Strasbourg obtained in 2017. Following this, she completed an Erasmus Mundus Master’s degree in International European Law at Trinity College Dublin in 2018, and was the valedictorian of her Master’s program in International Legal Careers at the University of Grenoble-Alpes in 2019, which she pursued in collaboration with the Graduate School of International Cooperation Studies at Kobe University, Japan. Her Master’s thesis concentrated on the ethics surrounding autonomous lethal weapons within public international law and international humanitarian law from a human-centric perspective. Throughout her academic journey, Maéva has been focused on the regulation of new technologies and has gained experience working with the parliamentary assembly of the Council of Europe and the French Data Protection Authority (Commission Nationale de l'Informatique et des Libertés, CNIL). She is particularly interested in the ethical and legal dimensions of IoT technologies in relation to occupational health.
