Biography

Maeve M. Hogan is a PhD candidate in Design Studies at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, focusing her research on design history within the context of craft, domestic material culture, and their relationships to modernity, nostalgia, and women's work. Her dissertation draws on the Helen Louise Allen Textile Collection, emphasizing understudied tapestries and fiber art from the 1950s and 1960s. Previously, she obtained a Master’s degree from Bard Graduate Center in Decorative Arts, Design History, and Material Culture, and a Bachelor’s degree from Clark University in Art History and Studio Art. Hogan has worked as a Curatorial Associate at the New-York Historical Society and has been a Teaching Assistant at the New York School of Interior Design. She has received multiple awards and fellowships such as the Robin Douthitt Graduate Teaching Fellowship for 2024-25 and the Smithsonian American Art Museum Predoctoral Fellowship for the same period, recognizing her contributions to material culture studies through various presentations and publications.
