Mafalda Dâmaso's research investigates intersections of cultural media policy, international relations, and sustainable development with particular emphasis on the European Union. Currently, she is a Researcher and Principal Investigator for the REBOOT project at Erasmus University Rotterdam, which aims to identify untapped pathways to support the competitiveness of the European film industry. Alongside her role at EUR, she is a Part-time Professor at the European University Institute in Florence and works as a Work Package leader for new Horizon projects. Her areas of expertise include EU cultural policy, EU media policy, cultural diplomacy, and the geopolitics of culture. Previously, she served as a Lecturer at King’s College London and was involved in various educational roles across institutions in Europe. In academia, she emphasizes a problem-driven teaching method that encourages critical reflection through real-world problems. Dâmaso also leads research projects related to strengthening the status of artists and cultural workers in Europe and serves as a Subject Matter Expert for the Canada Council for the Arts and the Latvian Council of Science.
