Biography

Mafalda Madureira is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC) at the University of Twente, specializing in Urban and Regional Planning and Geo-Information Management. She received her PhD in Urban Planning from Blekinge Institute of Technology in 2014, where she worked closely with Lund University's Center for Innovation Research in Learning Economy. Additionally, she holds a Bachelor’s degree in Geography from the University of Porto in Portugal and a Master's degree in European Spatial Planning and Regional Development from Blekinge Institute of Technology, Sweden. Her research interests include social sciences, planning of public space, social participation, management of economic and social development, urban areas change, and Earth and planetary sciences. As an active researcher, she contributes to the understanding of people, land, and urban systems, bringing attention to the intersections of technology and environmental factors in urban planning. She is committed to fostering collaboration and innovation in her field and engages in various teaching and administrative responsibilities at her university.
