Biography

Magda Donia joined the Telfer School of Management in 2011 as an Associate Professor, specializing in Human Resource Management and Organizational Behaviour. She earned her Ph.D. in Administration from Concordia University's John Molson School of Business, and holds an M.Sc. from Concordia and a B.A. in Political Science from McGill University. Donia's research primarily focuses on individual and organizational giving that exceeds formal role expectations. At the individual level, her work explores the motivations behind employees performing organizational citizenship behaviors. On the organizational front, she examines the impact of corporate socially responsible actions. She has also researched the role of peer evaluation systems in enhancing student performance in higher education. Her findings have been shared at various international conferences and she has been recognized with a Student Paper Award from the OB division of the Administrative Sciences Association of Canada and the Founders' Award from the Society for Business Ethics. She is involved in research addressing international development and cooperation in alleviating poverty and reducing social inequality, and is part of a multidisciplinary team providing university scholarships to public school graduates in northeastern Brazil.
