Magdalena received her Bachelor of Science in Physical Engineering from Czech Technical University in Prague in 2003, and completed her PhD in Medical Physics at McGill University in 2008. Afterward, she started a postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford University, where she also worked part-time as a clinical medical physicist at Stanford Hospital. In July 2015, she joined the University of Victoria in the Department of Physics and Astronomy as an Assistant Professor. Her research focuses on various aspects of medical physics, and she is a Canada Research Chair in this field. Outside of her academic pursuits, Magdalena enjoys an active outdoor lifestyle, engaging in rock climbing, ice-climbing, back-country skiing, and mountaineering. She has a passion for adventure, having climbed the highest peak in the Americas and biked across western Canada from Vancouver to Winnipeg.
