Biography

Magdalena Blackmore is currently teaching Polish language and culture courses at the University of Manitoba and serves as the Undergraduate Program Advisor for the Polish summer travel program. With over a decade of experience, she has also worked as a sessional instructor in the Department of German and Slavic Studies. She earned her Master's degree in History from the University of Winnipeg in 2009. Her research interests include immigration and ethnicity in Canada, particularly focusing on the Polish community in Manitoba and oral history. Magdalena is affiliated with the Central East European Studies Program at the University of Manitoba and has been a member of several professional organizations, such as the Canadian Association of Slavists and the Polish Institute of Arts and Sciences in America. She has received multiple awards for her contributions to the field and outreach, including the Outstanding Achievement Award from the Faculty of Arts.
