Dr. Magdalena Kampert

Biography

Magdalena Kampert works in the field of Translation Studies with a focus on translation and its associated power relations. She has completed her PhD in Translation Studies from the University of Glasgow in 2019, after holding an MA in Comparative Literature from the University of Bologna in 2012, and a BA in Italian Studies from Nicolaus Copernicus University Toruń in 2010. Her research interests include self-translation, literary translation, theatre translation, (trans)nationalism, identity translation, and power relations among languages and cultures. Her doctoral work concentrated on the phenomenon of self-translation within the context of migration, particularly linking Sicilian Italian and Polish literary figures. Additionally, she has received multiple grants for her research projects, highlighting her active engagement with the academic community. Kampert has supervised numerous undergraduate and postgraduate students and has taught various courses related to translation, Italian culture, and comparative literature. Her academic contributions include presentations at international conferences where she discusses the complexities surrounding self-translation and its implications for cultural dynamics.
