Dr. Magdalena Kuchler

Biography

Magdalena Kuchler is a Senior Lecturer and Associate Professor within the research program on Natural Resources Sustainable Development at Uppsala University, focusing on global energy systems. Her research primarily examines energy imaginaries that are discursively and materially shaped, exploring the implications of these imaginaries on governance, resource allocation, and policy-making in the context of energy transitions and climate change. Kuchler leads several research projects, including 'Disassembling the Power of High-Carbon Imaginaries,' funded by the Swedish Research Council, which investigates the dynamics of power in energy landscapes and seeks to dismantle entrenched fossil fuel imaginaries to support low-carbon transitions. She is also involved in projects that address the integration of carbon budgets in regional policy-making and explore the potential of harnessing energy from natural anthropogenic vibrations for sustainable energy solutions. She contributes her expertise to collaborative research efforts alongside multiple academic institutions, focusing on practical applications to aid in the transition to a fossil-free society.
