Biography

Maggie Creed is a Lecturer in Environmental Engineering at the University of Glasgow. She holds a PhD in Environmental Fluid Mechanics from the University of Edinburgh, which she completed in 2016. Before her doctoral studies, she earned a Master of Science in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Geotechnics from ENTPE in France in 2012 and a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Civil and Environmental Engineering from University College Cork, Ireland, in the same year. Maggie's research focuses on multi-criteria decision-making in the context of large river basins, integrating hydrology, flood prediction modelling, and the societal, economic, and political dynamics that influence these areas. She aims to develop improved flood protection measures leveraging local knowledge to address rapid landscape changes. Her expertise includes theoretical modelling of water-particle interaction and the use of numerical models to understand sediment transport mechanisms during extreme flood events. Additionally, she investigates the long-term impacts of climate change on river bank stability and sediment erosion. Maggie actively collaborates on multiple research grants aimed at risk management and hazard prediction.
