Biography

Xiaoyue Maggie Niu is an Associate Professor of Statistics and the Director of the Statistical Consulting Center at Penn State University. Her research focuses on the development of statistical models to solve real-world problems, particularly in the health and social sciences domains. Her methodological approaches include Bayesian methods, social network models, and latent variable models. A significant part of her role involves leading the Statistical Consulting Center, where she collaborates with a variety of researchers on campus and mentors graduate students. Maggie has also contributed to the professional community, serving as chair of the American Statistical Association Section on Statistical Consulting and as a poster chair for the Joint Statistical Meetings. Currently, she is an Associate Editor for the Journal of the American Statistical Association and the Annals of Applied Statistics, as well as co-editor for a special issue on Statistical Consulting Collaboration. She obtained her Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of Washington and earned her B.S. in Applied Mathematics from Peking University.
