Dr. Magnus Ängsal

Biography

Magnus P. Ängsal is a Senior Lecturer in the German Department of Languages and Literatures at the University of Gothenburg, where he began his academic career in 2012. He earned his PhD in 2010, focusing on German linguistics, and his dissertation was published in 2011. His teaching encompasses a variety of German language courses, including those in linguistics, grammar, and translation. Ängsal actively supervises both bachelor's and master's projects across multiple programs. His research interests include language criticism, language politics, language gender, and linguistic text discourse analysis. Throughout his career, Ängsal has led and contributed to numerous research projects and published extensively on topics related to the German language and its socio-political context. He has served as a section editor for a linguistics journal and is a member of an advisory board for a European literature and language education initiative. His work aims to investigate and analyze the implications of language use in various sociocultural contexts, particularly in relation to gender and political frameworks.
