Biography

Magnus Hörnqvist Colliander is an Associate Professor in Microstructure Physics and the Head of the Division of Physics at Chalmers University of Technology. His research focuses on improving the understanding of processing-structure-property relationships in advanced high-performance engineering materials at a fundamental level. He typically develops and employs in-situ characterization methods using electron microscopy and scattering/diffraction techniques at large-scale facilities. His particular interest lies in in-situ measurements of phase transformations, internal stresses, and deformation mechanisms, especially during representative thermal and mechanical cycles using time-resolved synchrotron and neutron scattering diffraction techniques. He aims to extract properties of individual phases, grains, and interfaces through in-situ micromechanical testing, thereby contributing to the development of new and improved materials with enhanced temperature stability and mechanical performance while minimizing the environmental impact of processing and application through collaborative projects with industry.
