Biography

Magnus Klofsten is a full professor in Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Linköping University, where he is also the founding director of the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE). He has developed substantial expertise in the planning and implementation of growth and development programs for technology-based firms. His research primarily focuses on entrepreneurship in the early stages of business formation and development. He studies the dynamics of newly started firms and the various factors that contribute to their success. Klofsten's academic journey began when he defended his PhD thesis in industrial marketing in 1992 and became an associate professor in 1996 before attaining full professorship in 2002. Over the years, he has co-founded several research organizations, including the Helix Centre of Excellence and AgoraLink. His commitment to academia is matched by his extensive teaching experience, having established courses related to entrepreneurship. Klofsten has been instrumental in fostering collaboration with various stakeholders, helping to support and nurture entrepreneurial processes and has contributed to the establishment of around 500 firms. His high impact publications and strong international network reflect his active involvement in the research community since the late 1980s. He has also participated in various funding initiatives such as the European Commission’s Targeted Socio-Economic Research (TSER) program and has received numerous grants from Swedish research councils and foundations.
