Biography

Mahdi S. Hosseini is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering (CSSE) at Concordia University. He is also a faculty member at the Applied AI Institute. He received his PhD from the Edward S. Rogers Sr. Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Toronto in 2016, where he conducted his research in the Multimedia Lab under the supervision of Professor Konstantinos N. Plataniotis. Following his PhD, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Toronto, focusing on collaboration with Huron Digital Pathology Inc. His research primarily involves advanced foundational developments in deep learning and computer vision algorithms, with a particular focus on applications in computational pathology and healthcare technologies. He is currently supervising graduate students on related topics and developing meaningful computer-aided diagnosis systems and assistive tools for clinical pathology and cancer diagnosis. Mahdi has published over 30 papers and is engaged in reviewing for reputable conferences in his field, including NeurIPS and CVPR.
