Dr. Mahdi Shahbakhti

Biography

Mahdi Shahbakhti is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Alberta and an Adjunct Professor at Michigan Technological University. He completed his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Alberta in 2009. He has worked as a post-doctoral scholar at the University of California, Berkeley, from 2010 to 2012. His experience spans various industries including control dynamic systems in automotive, robotics, and HVAC. His research focuses on the modeling and control of dynamic systems across automotive applications, building energy systems, and renewable energy systems. Shahbakhti's work emphasizes advanced methodologies for energy-efficient buildings and smart grid integration, alongside the development of alternative fuels and hybrid electric vehicles. He holds a strong interest in artificial intelligence applications in energy systems, hybrid vehicle technologies, and climate control systems.
