Dr. Mahmoud Alsalehi

Biography

Mahmoud Alsalehi is a full-time Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at Queen's University, specializing in Pediatric Cardiology. He joined the department in January 2022, where he focuses on the care of pediatric patients with congenital heart disease, acquired heart disease, heart failure, and arrhythmias. Dr. Alsalehi runs the Fetal Cardiology Clinic, which involves prenatal diagnosis of congenital heart disease, fetal echocardiography, and family counseling related to delivery planning. He graduated from Al-Quds University in Jerusalem in 2007, followed by residency training in General Pediatrics at Al-Naser Pediatric Hospital in Gaza, Palestine. Subsequently, he completed his Pediatric Cardiology fellowship training in 2019 at the Hospital for Sick Children affiliated with the University of Toronto. After completing his fellowship, Dr. Alsalehi worked as a Pediatric Cardiologist at TEDA International Cardiovascular Hospital in Tianjin, China, as part of a collaborative effort with SickKids International. He has been instrumental in supporting project teams to sustain positive changes and improve clinical outcomes through collaboration. Dr. Alsalehi is also interested in medical education, having served as a clinical coordinator for a pediatric training course in Gaza for two years. His research interests include quality improvement in Pediatric Cardiology services in low-resource settings.
