Biography

Mahmoud El-Sakka received a Bachelor of Science with Honours and a Master of Science degree in Computer Science, as well as Automatic Control Engineering from the University of Alexandria, Egypt in 1985 and 1990, respectively. He earned his Ph.D. degree in Systems Design Engineering from the University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada in 1997. Since 1999, Dr. El-Sakka has been a faculty member in the Department of Computer Science at Western University, Ontario. Prior to this, he was affiliated with the Department of Systems Design Engineering at the University of Waterloo. His research interests encompass Image Enhancement, Image Analysis and Inspection, Image Compression Encoding, Clustering, and Pattern Recognition. Dr. El-Sakka has published extensively in these areas, contributing to numerous international conferences and journals, with particular focus on machine learning applications in image processing.
