Dr. Maitham Shams

Biography

Maitham Shams is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electronics at Carleton University. His research focuses on high-speed low-power circuits and system on chip designs. He specializes in delay estimation optimization and modern asynchronous circuits. Dr. Shams has significant expertise in arithmetic blocks, energy estimation optimization, RF logic circuits, computer architecture, logical balance, and CMOS logic styles. His work extends to digital signal processing in wireless contexts, modeling of CMOS logic styles, and innovative approaches to adiabatic computing. Furthermore, his research interests include biomedical applications, MOSFET modeling, and microprocessor design, with practical applications in ASICs, DNA detection, artificial eyes, and artificial organs. He is also a member of the Ottawa Heart Institute and engages in collaboration on medical devices as well as participating in the Carleton Senate.
