Dr. Maja Hojer Bruun

Biography

Maja Hojer Bruun holds a PhD in Anthropology from the University of Copenhagen (2012) and an MSc in Anthropology (2004). She is an Associate Professor at the Danish School of Education at Aarhus University, where she convenes the interdisciplinary Research Program 'Future Technology, Culture Learning Processes'. Her research primarily explores the intersection of democracy, societal participation, and the impact of digital emerging technologies, with a focus on AI systems and their inter-professional work practices. She leads projects investigating the implications of algorithmic systems and large language models on automated expertise, among other topics. Additionally, Maja serves as the editor-in-chief of the 'Palgrave Handbook of Anthropology and Technology' published in 2022. Her expertise spans various domains including anthropology, education, learning, and science and technology studies, utilizing ethnographic methods to advance scholarly understanding and foster collaboration. Throughout her career, she has held significant roles at Aalborg University, contributing to research, teaching, and project management, while actively participating in academic communities through conference organization and editorial responsibilities.
