Biography

Maja Zehfuss researches politics surrounding migration, focusing on the hierarchies of political subjectivity and their impact in the context of contemporary global politics. Her work delves into themes of temporality, memory, and ethics, challenging traditional notions of humanity and vulnerability. She co-edits the well-regarded textbook 'Global Politics: New Introduction', with a forthcoming fourth edition anticipated in 2025, and has authored three research monographs published by Cambridge University Press and Oxford University Press. Her recent book, 'War Politics Ethics' (OUP 2018), received an honorable mention for the BISA Susan Strange Book Prize. Maja joined the University of Copenhagen in 2021 after teaching at the University of Warwick and The University of Manchester, where she also served as Associate Dean for Postgraduate Research. Additionally, she is an Honorary Professor and a founding member of the British International Studies Association’s Poststructural Politics Working Group, as well as serving on various editorial boards and committees within the academic community. Maja has supervised 15 PhD students to completion and continues to mentor emerging scholars in her field.
