Majda Hadziahmetovic, M.D., received her M.D. from the University of Belgrade School of Medicine in 2006. She completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania, Scheie Eye Institute from 2007 to 2012 and finished a residency in General Surgery at Drexel University College of Medicine in 2012. Following that, she completed her Ophthalmology Residency from 2013 to 2016, serving as chief resident in her final year. Dr. Hadziahmetovic’s research agenda focuses on teleophthalmology, particularly employing remote diagnosis for early diagnosis and suitable referrals for timely treatment of diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration, using advanced techniques such as optical coherence tomography (OCT) imaging and fundus photography. She also has significant interests in basic science, especially in investigating new mouse models of retinal diseases, with a long-term goal of understanding the disease processes associated with age-related macular degeneration and exploring potential reversals of morphological changes.
