Biography

Dr. Majid Iqbal is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at Queen's University. He works primarily in the field of Palliative Medicine where he serves as an attending physician on the inpatient consult team and in the Palliative Care Unit at Providence Care Hospital. Dr. Iqbal is involved with consultative care for ambulatory oncology patients, leveraging his extensive training in Family Medicine and Palliative Medicine, which he obtained from the University of Alberta and Queen's University, respectively. He holds a PhD in Physiology from the University of Toronto. His professional interests focus on clinical program development in palliative care and research initiatives aimed at improving care access and quality for palliative patients. He has spearheaded the establishment of a Palliative Oncology Procedure clinic to address the needs of patients in pain management and advanced interventions such as paracentesis. At present, Dr. Iqbal is collaborating with the Cardiology division to develop a Palliative Heart Failure clinic targeted at enhancing ambulatory care for underserved populations. He is actively participating in multiple clinical trials aimed at furthering the effectiveness of palliative care services.
