Malancha Gupta is a professor at the Mork Family Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science at the University of Southern California. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from Cooper Union, awarded in 2002, and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, completed in 2007. Following her doctorate, she served as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Chemistry at Harvard University from 2007 to 2009. Professor Gupta's research focuses on the mechanisms and kinetics related to initiated chemical vapor deposition (iCVD) and the development of functional polymers and structured materials for various applications, including water purification and gas separation. Her work aims to eliminate organic solvents in polymer processing, presenting a safer alternative for producing materials. She has led her research group in demonstrating innovative processes that utilize low substrate temperatures and mobile liquid surfaces to create films and particles with desirable physical properties. Her contributions to the field have been recognized with several awards, including the USC Viterbi School of Engineering Junior Faculty Award and the NSF CAREER award.
