Biography

Malancha Gupta is a Professor in the Mork Family Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science at the University of Southern California. She holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the Cooper Union (2002) and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (2007). Following her doctoral studies, she completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Chemistry at Harvard University from 2007 to 2009. Her research primarily focuses on the mechanisms and kinetics associated with initiated chemical vapor deposition (iCVD) of functional polymers and structured materials on liquid surfaces. She has developed methods that eliminate the use of organic solvents, thereby providing safer and cleaner alternatives for polymer processing in liquid phases. Her group has achieved significant advancements in uniformly coating diverse structured materials, including filters and microfluidic devices, utilizing the iCVD technique.
