Dr. Malavika Jayaram

Biography

Malavika Jayaram is a Faculty Associate at the Berkman Klein Center and serves as the Executive Director of the Digital Asia Hub, an independent, non-profit internet society research think tank based in Hong Kong. With a background in technology law, she has held various prestigious positions, including Associate at Allen & Overy in London and Vice President of Technology Counsel at Citigroup EMEA. Her work primarily focuses on the intersection of technology and society, addressing pressing challenges of digital transformation and digital self-determination. Jayaram has led global research initiatives that explore the ethical implications of digitalization and the role of technology in education, particularly in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. She is deeply engaged in advising governments on public-interest projects that aim to navigate the complexities of digital rights and access. Through her roles and projects, Jayaram actively contributes to discussions on digital ethics and innovative technology solutions.
